Our Story

Art Ki Paathshala began when a young girl at a community center completed her first drawing and asked, "Can I keep this?" That question revealed how rare and inaccessible creative expression is in many underserved schools.

Founded by Gauri Gupta, AKP began as a single community workshop and has since evolved into a peer-led movement for emotional learning through art.

Our Mission

To democratize emotional education by embedding art-based Social-Emotional Learning (SEL) into under-resourced schools, led by youth from the same communities.

Our Vision

In the next five years, we aim to:

  • Partner with state governments to integrate AKP into public school curricula
  • Train over 1,000 youth leaders to become community-based facilitators
  • Develop teacher training programs to equip educators as art mentors
  • Translate our curriculum into multiple regional languages
  • Launch digital versions of the Art Cart for hybrid and remote use

GAURI GUPTA

Founder

Ken Robinson once said, The arts are about the qualities of human experiences. Through music, dance, visual arts, drama, and the rest, we give form to our feelings and thoughts about ourselves, and how we experience the world around us." I’ve always believed that art is more than a medium of expression, rather, it is a way of transcending the cultural and social barriers that restrict society. Whether it has been through my Nani’s life as an artist, my own paintings or photography; art has been integral in shaping the way I think and respond to situations. For this reason, I believe art and more importantly art education should be open and accessible for all. At Art Ki Pathshala, we hope to empower as many children with artistic voices and freedom.
